The One Year Anniversary of the U.S. Capitol Riot
One Year. It seems like it was just yesterday, I was returning home from the store, and my daughter asked me had I seen what was going on in D.C. I just happened to turn on Twitter, and it was blowing up with comments about people forcing themselves into The Capitol. The Congress was certifying the Electoral College votes, and these criminals (the ones who literally stormed the Capitol) broke through glass, busted down doors, attacked Capitol Police on the steps leading to the The Capitol, and police inside, defaced the interior, vocally threatened Congress members, including Vice-President Pence. They made their way into the inner sanctums of the Congressional chambers, went into Congress members desks, went into their offices, I mean, I could go on and on. Meanwhile, D.T. (I never say his name) refused to call back and tell the rioters to stop the attack. he pretty much called them to action at the march he had prior to the count. Stories have been said that many of his supporters announced something was going to happen on that day. All of this was to prevent the validation of the Electoral College votes, which was unsuccessful.
So far, hundreds of people have been arrested, and convicted of various charges because of their involvement in the riot, or as many call it "insurrection." But no one, as of yet, who are members of Congress, or of the prior administration, have been charged. Perhaps the January 6th Investigating Committee are trying to insure they have all of the facts and evidence to make sure no one is missed when charges are leveled.
My hope is that this does not happen again, but I feel it will either during the mid-terms, or the next Presidential election. Either way, this empire may soon crumble.
